"The Emotional Freedom & Healing News" Issue #56 July 16, 2001 (c) 2001 Richard Ross. All rights reserved. When I use affirmations in my EF&H work, I'm using them in a different way than most folks do. Many think of affirmations as a way to "install" positive beliefs in the subconscious mind. I rather dislike this concept myself<g>. Firstly, because it likens us to computers or other machines, and we are NOT anything like a machine, regardless of what some folks tell us. If we go about using affirmations in this way, our Spirit will reject the process and the message. Another potential complication is that when many of us are stating the affirmation, our actual attention is on the opposite condition ("I don't want to be poor, sick, unloved, etc."). If we simply repeat affirmations from this perspective, we are only reinforcing the stuckness!!! Another way of stating this is that "the words that we speak are irrelevant if we are vibrating with a different energy". We will ALWAYS be creating based on our vibration. I occasionally use affirmations in my work with my clients, and when I do, it is done at the end of the session AFTER the limiting beliefs have been released. At this point the old stuck energy has been released and the client is free and in a clear, open space. The process I use with affirmations is one which reinforces the client's clear intention to have what they want. I use affirmations as a way of "setting our tone", as a way of "creating a new vibration". As I've said before in my newsletters, first and foremost we need to recognize when we are vibrating from a place of negativity, lack, or limiting beliefs about ourselves. And, if we are, we must then do something to transform these negative vibrations before we can expect affirmations (or anything else) to be effective. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I want to share with you an affirmation process I mentioned in one of my earliest newsletters. It was sent to me by a wonderful Coach (and Health & Healing Specialist) from the UK , Diana Keel, and I sometimes use it with my clients (after the release work!) with excellent results. 1. Find the little knob (bump) at the center of the back of your head, where the skull meets the top of the neck (in some people it is barely discernible - someone else may be able to find yours more easily for you; if not, try to find it on someone else and then you might find it more easily on yourself). By the way the technical term for this bump is the Occipital Protuberance. 2. Using two fingers, tap steadily and firmly but lightly on this knob, as you repeat your affirmations. Diana continues: "This tapping procedure can be enormously effective. The tapping sends a steady message, a pulsing beat, into your nervous system and into your habit field. Even if you are skeptical, judge for yourself based on the results you attain. Also consult with friends and loved ones after about a month because quite often we do not recognize changes when they happen effortlessly!" Note from RR: This last statement is excellent advice after ANY kind or energy work or transformational therapy. The best way to reinforce positive changes is to recognize that they have happened. This is especially true with my EF&H processes. Although the work is powerful, it can sometimes be so subtle that we don't recognize that we have changed. I often have clients whom, once the session is completed, have totally "forgotten" the severity of the original issue they brought to the session. Occasionally the client even forgets the issue itself (smile). As always, I welcome your questions and your feedback on how you use the processes you learn about here, and what your experience has been. www.emotionalfreedom.com
